Avisena Women’s & Children’s Specialist Hospital clinches win at Healthcare Asia Awards 2025

Avisena Women’s & Children’s Specialist Hospital (AWCSH) has been honoured with the Specialty Hospital of the Year (Women’s & Children’s) - Malaysia award at the Healthcare Asia Awards 2025. This prestigious recognition highlights the hospital’s outstanding achievements in women’s and children’s healthcare throughout 2024, reaffirming its position as a leading centre of excellence.

In 2024, AWCSH introduced specialised paediatric burn care, led by Dr Wan Syazli Rodzaian, addressing a critical gap in healthcare services. Additionally, it pioneered minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery for infants with hypertrophic pyloric stenosis, spearheaded by Dr Syariz Izry Sehat, significantly improving recovery times and reducing postoperative discomfort.

The hospital also became the first in Malaysia to implement advanced technologies such as G6PD Quantitative Testing, which is particularly beneficial for neonatal jaundice screening and early detection of enzyme deficiencies in newborns. This allows for timely intervention and management, boasting an accuracy rate of approximately 96%, resulting in a 40% improvement in procedural efficiency. It also includes 3D Einstein Vision 3.0 Imaging, which has reduced surgery time and enhanced the completeness of procedures, making them approximately 20% faster than traditional methods.
