TMU Healthcare invests in spin-off companies for healthcare advancements

Taipei Medical University (TMU) Healthcare System invested in AI and advanced imaging, with the help of research from its spin-off companies.
“For example, we have some artificial intelligence have imaging systems, which can automatically produce interpretation of many important imaging of diseases such as stroke,” said TMU’s vice president Kang-Yun Lee.
“The other thing is that we have more new products, for example, we have some products, novel drug development,” added Kang-Yun.
Adapting to changes
Mai-Szu Wu, President of Taipei Medical University, elaborated on the challenges their healthcare system faces.
The first challenge is the influx of cutting-edge technologies wherein TMU needs to keep adapting, which he explained that the rapid adoption came after the pandemic.
The second challenge is the human resource shortage, which is also a growing concern worldwide. Mai-Szu said they are addressing it through technology to modify standard operating procedures and make the most of their human resources.
The last challenge is keeping up with sustainability goals, which is a pressing issue even in the healthcare sector.
TMU is acknowledging the importance of cutting carbon emissions and taking steps to protect the environment whilst providing quality healthcare and education.
