Bumrungrad International Hospital chooses InterSystems health information solution

InterSystems TrakCare® unified healthcare information system and HealthShare® Health Connect interoperability solution will be used.

InterSystems, a global leader in health information technology, and Bumrungrad International Hospital, one of the largest private hospitals in Southeast Asia, have announced a plan to implement the InterSystems TrakCare® unified healthcare information system and HealthShare® Health Connect interoperability solution to enable Bumrungrad to become a fully digital hospital.

Bumrungrad International Hospital is globally acclaimed as one of the top 10 hospitals in the world for providing innovative and patient-centered medical care. The Hospital serves 1.1 million patients annually, of which half are international patients. In line with its high standard of service, Bumrungrad is a technology innovator and expects the new unified system for patient and clinical information to further improve its quality of care, patient safety and organizational efficiency.

TrakCare will provide a web-based, secure electronic medical record (EMR) – delivered from a single data repository – to give Bumrungrad's care providers the information they need about each patient, whenever and wherever they need it. The system will support medical staff in their clinical decision-making, ensuring that decisions are even better informed and provide the opportunity to strengthen patient safety and successful outcomes.

Bumrungrad's highly trained doctors and nurses will benefit from a single patient administration and clinical system with a consistent user interface and no need to log on to or switch between multiple systems or process paperwork manually. They will see all their work and receive all their notifications in the same place, wherever they are, on whatever device they are using.

HealthShare Health Connect will enable world class interoperability with other non-TrakCare systems in Bumrungrad's hospital and wellness center as well as easy exchange of patient information with authorized external organizations.

Bumrungrad will also implement the recently launched TrakCare Lab Enterprise, helping to transform its pathology laboratory into a information-driven organization capable of meeting the increased expectations for a modern pathology service.

Ms. Linda Lisahapanya, Managing Director and founder of the hospital prior to its public listing, explained, "The driving force for our decision to move to the InterSystems solution is to create a single, shared electronic record for each patient. Our aim is to further improve the quality of treatment that our patients receive. TrakCare makes it easier for clinicians to get a more complete view of the patients they are treating. Having access to up-to-date, comprehensive information anytime, anywhere means they can make the best decisions. The system will benefit every patient who utilizes the many local and international services Bumrungrad has to offer."

"InterSystems is proud to be working with Bumrungad International Hospital on this major project which benefits the lives of so many people," said Kerry Stratton, InterSystems Managing Director, Asia Pacific. "Bumrungrad joins a vibrant and growing community of customers across 25 countries, who work closely with InterSystems and benefit from global best practice built into the product. At the same time, TrakCare is configured to meet the needs of the local market, is proven in Thailand, and comes with a substantial, local implementation and support team."
