Seoul St. Mary’s and MicroPort to co-develop robotic surgery training
It will also serve as an advisory and research hub.
Catholic University Seoul St. Mary's Hospital has signed an agreement with MicroPort, a global surgical robotics company, to advance next-generation single-port robotic surgery systems.
Under the agreement, both institutions will channel feedback from Korean surgical professionals directly into system development, and co-develop educational programs to standardise advanced robotic surgery techniques.
The hospital will also serve as an advisory and research hub to support the global commercialisation of the system currently under development.
Additionally, the two parties have agreed to establish a training hub for domestic and international medical professionals.
MicroPort's existing laparoscopic robotic surgery system received CE MDR certification in May 2024 and has since been deployed across five European countries, recording the first remote surgery in Europe following that certification.
