Burjeel Cancer Institute launches specialised Sarcoma & Bone Center in Abu Dhabi

Burjeel Cancer Institute (BCI) has launched a specialised Sarcoma & Bone Center at Burjeel Medical City (BMC), its flagship facility in Abu Dhabi.
The center, developed with the Burjeel Orthopaedic Institute, focuses on diagnosing and treating rare and complex bone and soft tissue tumors. It combines medical oncology, orthopedic oncology, radiation oncology, vascular surgery, radiology, rehabilitation, and psychological support in one coordinated program. Patients receive personalised care from a multidisciplinary team, from diagnosis through recovery.
Sarcomas, amongst the rarest forms of cancer, account for approximately 1% of adult cancers and nearly 15% of pediatric cancers, the institute noted.
Globally, more than 13,000 new cases are reported annually. Research also showed that early diagnosis and treatment at specialised centers significantly improve survival outcomes.
The facility features PET-CT imaging, intraoperative MRI, limb-salvage microsurgery, targeted therapies, and immunotherapies guided by advanced genomic analysis.
Additonally, next-generation sequencing and high-resolution imaging allow treatment plans tailored to each patient’s clinical and genetic profile.
