The Australian Government has unveiled the concept design for the new $1.3b (A$2b) Bankstown Hospital in New South Wales.
The concept design outlines the planned locations of new and enhanced health services and facilities within the new multi-storey building.
The facility will be located in Bankstown’s central business district and is planned to accommodate acute and specialised health services.
Proposed services include an emergency department, operating theatres, an intensive care unit, surgical and medical services, women and children’s health, mental health, ambulatory care, cancer services, and aged health care
Early works will involve the demolition of existing buildings to prepare the site for the main construction, which is expected to begin in early 2026, pending planning approval.
