
Queensland to launch seven new transit lounges by 2026
The projects are the first phase of an $52.9m (A$80m) investment.
Seven new and expanded transit lounges in Queensland are expected to ease pressure on state hospitals, according to the Australian government.
The services in Cairns, Gladstone, Mackay, Logan, Redland City, Townsville, and Ipswich hospitals are expected to be operational by the end of 2026, with some starting later this year.
The transit lounge projects are the first phase of an $52.9m (A$80m) investment through the ‘Easier Access to Health Services Plan’
The facilities will provide dedicated interim treatment areas for patients waiting for discharge, admission, transfer, or outpatient appointments.
