The Australian Government has announced a $15.4m (A$24m) ‘General Practice Trainee Incentive’ to boost general practice (GP) across Queensland.
Eligible doctors starting their GP training this year will receive a one-off payment of $25,726 (A$40,000).
More than 575 trainee doctors are expected to qualify for the incentive.
The funding forms part of the government’s "Easier Access to Health Services Plan," which aims to increase the number of doctors, nurses, and paramedics across the state.
