Singapore launches industry transformation map 2025 for healthcare

Preventive health takes centre stage.

Singapore has laid out a renewed industry roadmap for its healthcare sector that gives stronger emphasis on innovation, sustainability and a future-ready workforce.

The Ministry of Health unveiled the new Industry Transformation Map (ITM) 2025 for healthcare on 26 July in light of the advent of new technologies and the lessons learned from the pandemic. It was a follow-up to the previous ITM first introduced in 2017.

The updated roadmap’s four goals include building up the country’s research and innovation ecosystem to support the government’s priorities in preventive health. It also aims to accelerate clinical adoption of research, promote a more efficient use of data and adoption of artificial intelligence (AI).

“We want to empower individuals to take care of their own health, and ensure appropriate and quality patient-centric care at affordable cost,” the agency said in a statement.

Strengthening digital healthcare systems is also a priority for the city-state to broaden access to professional and personalised care.

At the forefront of the newly-set goals is the need to build a future-ready workforce to augment the healthcare needs of the country’s ageing population. It also aims to have a renewed focus on primary and preventive care in medical training.

MOH also seeks to reinforce partnership with agencies, public healthcare and academic institutions to support local enterprises to innovate and scale their products globally.
