MOH launches new $90m research grant for population health innovation

The research grant backs SingHealth centre for population health implementation.

The Ministry of Health (MOH) allocated $90m for a research grant that pushes for research and innovation on population health which covers health promotion, preventive health, and health services research.

In a speech, Janil Puthucheary, senior minister of State for Health, said MOH started a new National Medical Research Council (NMRC) Centre grant to support the launch of SingHealth Centre for Population Health Research and Implementation (CPHRI), which seeks to be a nexus for population health.

More details on the new grant will be explained by NMRC authorities in the next few weeks, he added.

He further explained that CPHRI will develop population health research across the life stages and speed up the translation of research findings to care delivery and improving scaling services. 

His speech was presented at the Singapore Population Health Symposium, a symposium organised by SingHealth and Geriatric Education and Research Institute, which seeks to extend the health years of older adults and promote healthy ageing in the Lion City.
