Swan Hill District Health’s ED upgrade completion now underway

It will include a new four-bed short-stay unit for patients requiring treatment for less than 24 hours.

Australia’s Swan Hill District Health Emergency Department (ED) upgrade is slated for completion later this year, with remaining works expected to be finished in early 2026, according to the government.

The project will replace the existing ED and will include a new four-bed short-stay unit, an isolation room, shell medical imaging, and a behavioural assessment room.

The addition of the short-stay unit will enable accommodation of patients requiring treatment for less than 24 hours, allowing medical staff to focus on more critical cases.

The department will also include a new entrance on McCrae Street and a larger waiting area to accommodate increased patient capacity.
