Singapore heart centre deploys photo-counting CT for complex cardiac cases
Cardiovascular disease accounts for nearly one in three deaths in the country.
The National University Heart Centre, Singapore (NUHCS), deployed a new generation of cardiac imaging technology for a high workload of complex cardiac cases.
Known as the Photon-Counting Computed Tomography (PCCT), it aims to strengthen care for high-risk cardiovascular patients.
“With Singapore’s ageing population, we are seeing more patients with complex cardiac conditions who may not tolerate invasive coronary angiogram well,” said Associate Professor James Yip, Executive Director and Senior Consultant, NUHCS. By 2030, nearly one in four Singaporeans will be aged 65 or older.
