MakatiMed to advance cancer treatment with comprehensive genomic profiling

The hospital collaborated with Roche Philippines for the initiative.

The Philippines' Makati Medical Centre (MakatiMed) is set to adopt comprehensive genomic profiling services for cancer care.

Through a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Roche Philippines, Inc., the partnership will allow the introduction of an approach that caters to personalised cancer treatment based on the patient’s specific genetic makeup.

“The collaboration paves the way for comprehensive genomic Profiling which analyses tumour genome to identify clinically relevant alterations and signatures and thus potentially expand the patients’ treatment options.” MakatiMed’s Medical Director, Saturnino Javier, said.

In a press statement, the hospital mentioned that the new approach is aligned with its focus on medical innovation.

“With this partnership, the institution continues to set the standard for excellence in cancer treatment, providing hope and healing to patients and their families,” MakatiMed said.
