Leaders from hospitals and leading health institutions launch research alliance vs viruses
The research brings scientists from four countries to conduct rapid responses against viruses.
Several world-renowned professors from six institutions in four countries have an alliance to conduct research into respiratory diseases and viruses.
The agreement calls for improved surveillance and innovative solutions as a better management measure for any potential endemic.
The PRA is the first-ever alliance for intensive pandemic research, prompting cooperation from scientists based in Australia, Mainland China, Hong Kong, Singapore, and the United States. To leverage the expertise and input from each institution, the alliance will concentrate on evaluating the phenomenon of animal viruses being passed down to humans through artificially grown organoids.

Any input will lead to a prompt reinforcement of virus detection and prevention, as well as drug treatment and vaccines before any outbreak. And through the information, it will gauge the research into creating rapid virus-prevention measures.
“Given the history of pandemics, we expect more emerging infectious disease outbreaks, one of which may cause the next pandemic within another decade or so. By launching this alliance today, we are effectively gearing up to protect lives and avert future disruptions to our way of life,” David Ho, Professor at Columbia University and AIDS research pioneer, shared.
