Kurashiki Central Hospital names Akito Terai as new hospital and executive director

Sen Yamagata steps down from the role and assumes the role of general director.

Kurashiki Central Hospital (KCH) has appointed Akito Terai as the new hospital director and executive director, effective 1 April 2024.

Terai has succeeded Sen Yamagata who will assume the position of general director.

Terai holds expertise in prostate cancer, benign prostatic hyperplasia, laparoscopic surgery and neurogenic bladder. He served as a specialist and instructor for the Japan Urological Association.

Before his appointment, he served as the chief and vice director for KCH.

In 1982, he graduated from the Department of Medicine, Kyoto University School of Medicine. In 1992, he served as an assistant at Kyoto University Hospital.

He also holds a Japanese Society of Endoscopic Surgery Certification in the urology area and a da Vinci Certificate in urological laparoscopic technique.
