Dubai Health and Angelman Syndrome Foundation open GCC's first dedicated clinic

It aims to improve care for Angelman Syndrome patients and increase awareness of the disorder in the region.

Dubai Health has partnered with the Angelman Syndrome Foundation to launch the GCC's inaugural clinic for Angelman Syndrome at Al Jalila Children’s Hospital. 

The clinic aims to improve care for Angelman Syndrome patients and increase awareness of the disorder in the region. It will provide a crucial hub for patients, families, and caregivers to access expert care and support. 

Angelman Syndrome, which affects approximately one in 500,000 people worldwide, is characterised by early symptoms such as significant delays in developmental milestones like walking within the first 12 months. Other clinical signs include speech delays, movement or balance disorders, and a typically happy demeanor with frequent laughter and excitability.

Additionally, it will offer specialised healthcare services and evidence-based care, bolstered by Dubai Health’s integrated academic health system.
