Construction progresses for Mersey Community Hospital redevelopment
Redevelopment works are set for completion by early 2025.
The Australian government has announced that the $27.2m (A$41m) redevelopment of the Mersey Community Hospital is underway with its outpatient clinics and operating theatres set to function by mid-August.
According to Minister for Health, Mental Health and Wellbeing, Guy Barnett, works are set for completion by early 2025.
"Our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future is about ensuring better health outcomes for Tasmanians become a reality," Barnett said.
The hospital will see upgrades including 13 new consulting rooms, six specialist treatment areas, six dedicated paediatric spaces, audiology services, a physiotherapy gym, and enhanced endoscopy capabilities.
“The upgrades are part of the broader redevelopment of the Mersey Community Hospital and will deliver an increased range of health services to meet the needs of the local community, in particular services to address chronic diseases,” Barnett added.
