60% gathered their information through television programmes.
A lack of public awareness still plagues Southeast Asia, and analysts say it can stall the treatment of diseases and disorders.
According to a report by BMI REsearch, notably, teachers in the region are often not trained on teaching or identifying children with ADHD - a poignant fact as they spend a significant amount of time interacting with children of schooling age.
“According to a study of 212 teachers in Thailand, 83% surveyed have never been trained or taught about ADHD before graduation,” the report noted. “Teachers instead garnered information on ADHD primarily through television programmes (60%), books (55%) and leaflets (51%).”
The report added that this lack of knowledge can be even more acute in the less developed markets of SEA.
