Australian gov’t introduces new staffing quality indicators for aged care

These will focus on enrolled nursing, allied health, and lifestyle assistants.

The Australian government is set to introduce three new staffing quality indicators to the National Aged Care Mandatory Quality Indicator Programme in residential aged care.

From 1 April 2025, providers will collect data for the new indicators, with the first reporting deadline set for 21 July 2025. They must submit this information every three months for each resident.

The government said this move expands the number of indicators from 11 to 14, with the additions focusing on enrolled nursing, allied health, and lifestyle assistants.
