Auckland City Hospital installs eight new heart and lung bypass machines
The full installation represents a total investment of $1.8m (NZ$3.2m).
Eight new heart and lung bypass machines have been introduced at Auckland City Hospital, according to New Zealand Health Minister Simeon Brown.
The full installation represents a total investment of $1.8m (NZ$3.2m).
The machines, designed for both adult and paediatric patients, provide goal-directed therapy with monitoring systems that optimise oxygen delivery during surgery.
In addition, next-generation blood parameter monitors have been installed to support surgical teams in tracking patients’ vital parameters during operations.
The phased replacement of the hospital’s ageing bypass machine fleet was approved in 2024.
