HMI leverages robotic surgery to boost regional healthcare access
The hinotori system expands accessibility, and strengthens cross-border medical collaboration.
HMI Medical is strengthening its regional position in advanced healthcare through the introduction of the Hinotori robotic-assisted surgical system across its hospitals in Malaysia.
“We're very proud and excited to be the first private healthcare operator in the world to introduce the Hinotori robotic assisted surgical system outside of Japan,” said Chin Wei Jia, Group CEO of HMI Medical.
“With this technology, we look forward to bringing cutting edge robotic surgery to more people and more patients from across Malaysia and the region. We really focus not just on improving access to the latest technologies, but also in driving accessibility so more people can access this technology.”
Chin said the integration of robotic-assisted surgery (RAS) has already shown measurable benefits at Regency Specialist Hospital in Johor and Mahkota Medical Center in Malaysia. “We are actually looking forward to, and have already seen improvements to enhancements in patient outcomes, in reductions in length of stay and less pain, as well as a better patient experience,” she said. “This is something that we are very excited to roll out across multiple disciplines. We have already started with urology, with gynecology and with general surgery.”
HMI is also expanding its training and certification ecosystem to scale expertise across Asia. “With our partnership with Medicaroid, which is a joint venture company between leading Japanese companies in technology and healthcare, as well as with our collaboration with leading university hospitals across Japan and as well as in Singapore, I think we've provided many observership training opportunities as well as intensive surgical training and certification opportunities for our surgeons, our nurses and our team,” Chin added.
