Siloam Hospitals honoured at Healthcare Asia Awards 2025

The company secured wins in four categories at the prestigious awards programme.

Siloam Hospitals Group has been recognised at the esteemed Healthcare Asia Awards 2025 for its unwavering commitment to enhancing clinical outcomes and setting new benchmarks in patient survival and quality care across its hospital network.

Excellence in urology & nephrology services

Amongst its award-winning facilities is Siloam Hospitals ASRI, a distinguished private healthcare institution in Indonesia renowned for its groundbreaking achievements in kidney transplantation, as part of the main services in the Comprehensive Urology and Nephrology Center.

The hospital is supported by a team of 10 urologists specialising in various subspecialties, including endourology, uro-oncology, uro-paediatrics, uro-andrology, female functional and neuro-urology. This ensures comprehensive and specialised care. By focussing on subspecialisation, the hospital delivers treatments aligned with global best practices, tailored to individual patients’ needs.

As of January 2025, Siloam Hospitals ASRI has successfully performed 415 kidney transplants, achieving clinical outcomes that surpass global standards. Patient survival rates stand at 97% for one year and 91.7% for five years, whilst graft survival rates reach 98.3% and 93.8% for one and five years, respectively.

The hospital has also made significant advancements in living donor nephrectomy procedures. Initially performed using the transperitoneal approach, which posed certain risks, the surgical team transitioned entirely to the retroperitoneal technique by 2020. Although more technically challenging, this method has enhanced patient safety and minimised complications.

To address donor shortages, Siloam Hospitals ASRI’s urologists pioneered vascular reconstruction techniques to manage cases involving multiple renal arteries. These innovations allow the hospital to perform complex transplants with warm ischemic times comparable to simpler procedures, expanding access and improving outcomes for patients.

“Siloam Hospital ASRI continues to redefine healthcare in Indonesia by integrating cutting-edge technology, multidisciplinary expertise, and patient-centred care. Its commitment to innovation and excellence in kidney transplantation and urology services has not only improved patient outcomes but has also provided hope and better quality of life for countless individuals,” the hospital stated.

For these achievements, Siloam Hospitals ASRI was awarded Tertiary Hospital of the Year - Indonesia.

BIMC Siloam Nusa Dua: A leader in medical tourism

Another celebrated facility within the Siloam Hospitals Group is BIMC Nusa Dua, which has become a premier destination for medical tourism since its establishment.

Renowned for high-quality plastic surgery services, the hospital offers a wide range of procedures from minimally invasive treatments to complex surgeries. Its top three procedures— facelifts, blepharoplasty, and breast augmentation—are performed by internationally trained surgeons.

Between 2021 and 2024, the hospital saw an eightfold increase in plastic surgery procedures, rising from 77 to 627 surgeries. Most patients come from Australia and New Zealand, drawn by Bali’s proximity and the hospital's reputation for achieving natural and aesthetically pleasing results.

As Indonesia’s first hospital accredited by the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards International in 2014, BIMC Nusa Dua upholds global standards in safety, ethics, and patient care. Advanced sterilisation and infection control protocols, combined with 24/7 post-operative monitoring, ensure a safe and smooth recovery for patients.

Equipped with state-of-the-art technology, the hospital enhances surgical precision through advanced imaging systems, 3D modelling, and minimally invasive tools. Its modern operating theatres, designed with laminar airflow systems, provide a sterile environment, whilst fully equipped recovery suites offer privacy and comfort in a luxurious setting.

The hospital also allows medical tourists to combine world-class plastic surgery with a tropical vacation. Partnerships with local resorts provide tailored medical tourism packages, including treatments, accommodations, and recovery plans, offering a holistic and memorable experience. Multilingual staff, concierge services, and comprehensive consultations also ensure a stress-free journey.

“With its expertise in plastic surgery, international accreditation, advanced facilities, and focus on patient care, BIMC Nusa Dua is a leader in medical tourism. By blending exceptional healthcare with Bali’s serene beauty, it sets a benchmark in aesthetic care,” the company stated.

For its excellence in medical tourism, BIMC Nusa Dua was named Medical Tourism Hospital of the Year - Indonesia.

Streamlining outpatient experience

Siloam Hospitals has also introduced the Outpatient Digital Express Lane Project, designed to enhance the outpatient experience by leveraging digital technology to improve efficiency, reduce wait times, and increase patient satisfaction.

Through this initiative, patients can digitally provide personal and insurance details, shifting 80% of the manual process to secure online platforms. On the day of their appointment, the self-check-in system allows them to bypass registration queues, followed by a nurse check-up and then a doctor’s consultation as guided by its virtual queue system for a seamless experience.

After the consultation, self-checkout eliminates payment queues, and pharmacy home delivery further reduces wait times.

Since its launch in 2023, self-check-in has gained over 1.7 million users, reducing registration processing time by 5.1 minutes per patient. By December 2024, this saved an estimated 144,616 hours across all Siloam Hospitals.

For this innovation, Siloam Hospitals won the Service Delivery Innovation Initiative of the Year - Indonesia award.

Developing stroke-ready hospitals

Siloam Hospitals is also at the forefront of acute stroke care, establishing stroke-ready hospitals to enhance early stroke detection, treatment, and prevention. With the networks covering 41 hospital units across 30 cities in Indonesia, 25 units are well-equipped as stroke-ready hospitals. This initiative elevates neuroscience care standards at the whole Siloam Hospitals Group.

Regular workshops and simulations ensure medical teams are well-prepared for stroke emergencies. Collaborations with global partners have also earned Siloam recognition from the World Stroke Organization.

The programme drives awareness through campaigns that educate communities on early stroke symptoms. Between 2023 and 2024, over 3,000 stroke patients received treatment, with thrombolysis rates increasing by >10%.

Siloam's integrated stroke care framework includes ambulance services, emergency and intensive care, stroke units, rehabilitation, nutrition, and post-discharge support, ensuring optimal recovery and improved quality of life for patients.

By expanding its Stroke-Ready Hospital network, enhancing public awareness, and committing to excellence, Siloam Hospital is transforming stroke care in Indonesia, offering hope and recovery to countless lives.

For this achievement, Siloam Hospitals won the Clinical Service Initiative of the Year - Indonesia award.
