National Cardiovascular Center Harapan Kita lands two wins at Healthcare Asia Awards 2025

It brought home the Management Innovation of the Year - Indonesia and the Health Promotion Initiative of the Year - Indonesia category wins.

National Cardiovascular Center Harapan Kita (NCCHK) received two major accolades at the coveted Healthcare Asia Awards 2025 for successfully implementing a method that ensured uninterrupted medical services during the construction of its new building and a health promotion programme that has educated the public on disease prevention and chronic heart disease management.

Named the Architectural Redesign Hospital Masterplan on the limited Area (ARHMA) Method, the procedure formed a migration team consisting of cardiologists, environmental experts, engineers, pharmacists, IT specialists, and laboratory technicians to map and redesign the service migration.

Then, they conducted a critical assessment of buildings scheduled for demolition and simulated scenarios for relocating functions. After these are carried out, the hospital then transferred outsourceable services to other hospitals and relocated core services to existing buildings by optimising space and redesigning layouts.

The ARHMA method was first applied in 2016 to the construction of NCCHK’s utility building — which houses the hospital's electricity centre, pharmacy warehouse, mortuary, ground water tank, wastewater treatment, temporary storage area, and auditorium. Since then, it has been carried out on several projects within NCCHK without disrupting cardiovascular services and other critical hospital services.

“Applying the ARHMA Method in hospital construction within limited areas has proven to be an effective solution for ensuring continued hospital development whilst maintaining uninterrupted cardiovascular services. Hospitals facing space constraints and planning new building projects can adopt the ARHMA Method to provide seamless construction and service continuity,” the company said.

NCCHK won the Management Innovation of the Year - Indonesia for this approach.

Meanwhile, its award-winning health promotion programme aims to raise public awareness of the importance of healthy lifestyles and disease prevention and provide information and access to health services. The hospital works with specialists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure that the programme materials are accurate and meet the community's needs.

All of its cardiovascular health education materials are developed in response to requests and inquiries from patients and social media users. NCCHK has launched over 200 educational materials in various formats, including videos, posters, and brochures. The high level of interaction generated by the educational content on social media is proof that the materials resonate with the public, particularly on social media and amongst the general population.

“With a strong dedication and commitment to raising heart health awareness and striving to be Indonesia's leading reference in cardiovascular education through various science-based initiatives, community-focussed campaigns, and collaborations with medical professionals and related institutions, this programme has significantly contributed to improving heart health in our country,” NCCHK said.

The hospital took home the Health Promotion Initiative of the Year - Indonesia category win for the milestones of its cardiovascular health education programme.
