What to expect from the Glen Innes Hospital redevelopment project
A new building will be linked to the existing hospital’s health services.
The Australian government is inviting the community to provide feedback on the latest plans for its $33.7m (A$50m) Glen Innes Hospital redevelopment project.
According to the government, this upgrade includes a new building to house an emergency department, a medical imaging service, ambulance bays, a mortuary, and a new main entrance.
In line with this, all acute services will be located on the same level to improve the operational flow throughout the hospital.
“The new building will be linked to the existing hospital ensuring all health services remain connected onsite, providing convenience to patients, visitors and staff,” Regional Health Minister, Ryan Park, said.
Meanwhile, the project also includes planned upgrades for the hospital’s operating theatre and birthing suites.
Moreover, its design considers expansion zones to allow further work in the future.
Construction timeframes for the project will be confirmed as planning progresses and following the appointment of a building contractor.
