Philippine’s Department of Health unveils Heart and Lung Centre at the WVMC

It will provide cardiovascular and lung care to residents of the Western Visayas region.

The Department of Health (DoH) in the Philippines has announced the launch of the Heart and Lung Centre at the Western Visayas Medical Center (WVMC).

The centre will provide cardiovascular and pulmonary care to residents of Western Visayas, including Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, Iloilo, and Negros Occidental.

In a statement, DoH Undersecretary Gloria Balboa said the centre will focus on increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of surgical procedures, as well as improving patient care.

“This centre ensures that patients in Western Visayas no longer need to seek referral to higher-level facilities for critical treatment,” Balboa said.

Moreover, the centre’s launch aligns with the government agency’s eight-point Action Agenda focused on improving public health facilities and promoting modern and accessible healthcare.
