Australia invests $2.4m in Kerang District Health facility upgrade

This includes the construction of two post-anaesthesia care unit bays.

The Australian government has invested $2.4m (A$3.5m) in facility upgrades for Kerang District Health in Victoria.

The project includes the construction of two new post-anaesthesia care unit bays and the replacement of outdated operating room equipment such as sterilising tools, an ultrasonic unit, plasma storage technology, a tourniquet machine, endoscopes, and patient monitors.

Meanwhile, the funding will enable improvements to the health service’s Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD), which handles the collection, decontamination, and sterilisation of medical equipment.

The upgraded CSSD is expected to feature a modern facility to reduce the risk of cancelled procedures and ensure timely treatment.
