Australia to invest $8.5b for enhanced public health system in Victoria
The investment is part of the Victorian Budget 2024/25.
The Australian government is set to invest $8.5b ($AU$13b) into Victoria’s public health system which will be injected into the state's 2024/25 budget.
The investment will support the delivery of quality healthcare, including improved facilities and equipment.
About $1.1b (AU$1.7b) will be allocated to build and upgrade hospitals and health facilities across the state, including the Monash Medical Centre, Austin Hospital, and the Northern Hospital.

Meanwhile, $496.8m (A$755m) will be aimed towards operational and establishment funding for hospitals including Northern Health, Latrobe Regional Hospital, and Footscray Hospital.
An extra $18.4m (AU$28m) funding will provide support towards health services and boost Victoria’s nursing workforce capacity.
