Abu Dhabi, US hospital partner on paediatric cell and gene therapies

Both will offer specialised fellowships, joint training programmes, and workshops.

The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi and the US-based Children’s National Hospital have signed a memorandum of understanding to advance cell and gene therapies for younger patients in the UAE.

The partnership will establish the Abu Dhabi – Children’s National Hospital Cell and Gene Therapy Clinical Excellence Programme.

Both organisations will provide specialised fellowships, joint training programmes, and workshops to develop local talent.

The collaboration will also focus on expediting the delivery of paediatric cell and gene treatments, such as Virus-Specific T-cell therapies, in the Emirate.

The partnership will also enhance clinical trial capabilities by simplifying regulatory processes, improving data governance, and building local capacity

Furthermore, it aims to establish “Good Manufacturing Practices” compliant manufacturing facilities, develop treatment protocols for patients and standard use, and introduce strict process systems.
