Dr Björn Drobe, BSc in Optometry, MSc in Cognitive Sciences, PhD in Vision Sciences, Director, Applied Myopia Research, EssilorLuxottica
Dr. Björn Drobe is an optometrist and vision scientist with over 25 years of experience in the ophthalmic industry, specializing in myopia management and control in children. He began his career with the R&D team at Essilor in France before relocating to Asia in 2007. From 2013 to 2017, he served as Associate Director of the Wenzhou Medical University– Essilor International Research Center (WEIRC), where he led an international research team focused on myopia in children.
Since 2016, Dr. Drobe has led EssilorLuxottica’s myopia research efforts in Singapore and is currently Director of Applied Myopia Research, formerly known as the Vision Sciences department. He has played a central role in the development and clinical validation of several generations of myopia control lenses, most notably the Essilor Stellest lenses, which have demonstrated sustained efficacy in slowing myopia progression and axial elongation over a six-year clinical trial. Dr. Drobe holds more than 60 patents related to myopia control and optical technologies and has authored over 40 peer-reviewed scientific articles.

Olga Prenat is the Global Head of Medical and Professional Affairs at EssilorLuxottica, leading evidence-based medical strategy and scientific engagement across optical categories, wearables, and audiology, and medical technologies. She is currently a Board Member of the Global Myopia Awareness Coalition (GMAC) and served as GMAC Chair from 2024 to 2025.
With more than 27 years of experience in the ophthalmic and eye care industry, Olga has developed educational programs for eye care professionals worldwide. She is a founding member and Fellow of the European Academy of Optometry and Optics (EAOO) and has also served on the review board of the journal Optometry & Visual Performance (OVP).
Previously, Olga Prenat practiced and taught optometry, ophthalmic optics, dispensing, and low vision in France at Université Paris Saclay and at the Institute and Center of Optometry. From 2010 to 2013, she was the Executive Director of the Institute and Center of Optometry (ICO) in France. Olga holds an Executive MBA from HEC Paris, a Master of Science in Optometry from Université Paris Saclay, and a degree in ophthalmic dispensing.
