Hong Kong Baptist Hospital taps Shell for sustainability energy solutions

This includes a CO2 offset programme and electric vehicle charging.

Private hospital, Hong Kong Baptist Hospital (HKBH), signed a deal with Shell Hong Kong Limited, for energy solutions to support the hospital’s carbon neutral target.

Amongst the energy solutions are “provision of Shell Biodiesel B5, installation of the first electric vehicle (EV) charging station at the Hospital, and the CO2 Offset Programme.”

The partnership between the two firms dated back in July 2022 where HKBH switched to biodiesel for their in-house steam broilers.

Under Shell’s carbon offset programme, HKBH used Shell’s global carbon credit portfolio. With this, HKBH is projected to offset a “total of 1,717 tonnes of carbon emissions from the use of diesel in boilers through the CO2 Offset Programme in the next three years.”

The EV charging station is located on the 1/F of Block C car park consisting of three AC medium chargers with a charging speed of 7kW.
