Singaporeans secure digital COVID-19 travel certificates

Parkway Pantai is the first to launch.

Travellers preparing to leave Singapore can now get a fully digital and tamper-proof COVID-19 test certificate from Parkway Pantai hospital. Rather than bring along a piece of paper to show an immigration official, a QR code can be scanned that verifies the user is COVID-19 free. This is mandatory for anyone wanting to travel out of Singapore as restrictions begin to lift.

As part of Singapore’s pre-departure test (PDT), travellers must obtain COVID-19 swab results before travel out of Singapore is granted. Currently, COVID-19 test results are issued as physical documents by most healthcare providers.

The digital COVID-19 swab results are able to enable a smoother travel process for outbound travellers, immigration authorities, and airlines with its interoperability and ease of authentication.

The blockchain solution was created by local technology company Accredify and results stored in its mobile app. Travellers can then access this result and present an unique QR code immigration authorities for immediate verification.

Parkway’s verifiable COVID-19 swab results are based on frameworks which Accredify co-created with GovTech Singapore, and have data fields that are aligned to physical result certificates currently issued by healthcare providers.
