Rising cancer rates push biopsy market toward $11.2b

Cases are expected to climb to nearly 35 million by 2050.

The global biopsy devices market is projected to grow to $11.2b by 2033, driven by increasing cancer cases.

A Persistence Market Research report said cases are expected to climb to nearly 35 million by 2050 from roughly 20 million in 2022, a 77% increase.

The US alone expects more than 2 million new cancer cases annually, whilst breast, lung, prostate, colorectal, and liver cancers account for the bulk of biopsy procedures worldwide.

North America holds approximately 42% of the global market, led by the United States.

Meanwhile, Asia Pacific will emerge as the fastest-growing region, driven by China's large patient population and India's Ayushman Bharat screening programme.

By product, needle-based biopsy guns lead with roughly 46% of segment share, favoured for their accuracy and shorter recovery times across breast, prostate, kidney, liver, and lung procedures.

Moreover, artificial intelligence-assisted pathology platforms and image-guided systems using ultrasound, MRI, and CT are gaining adoption as they improve diagnostic accuracy and reduce interpretation time.
