Mayapada, Apollo advance robotic urology surgery in Jakarta proctorship

Mayapada Healthcare held its fourth proctorship programme with Apollo Hospitals India at Mayapada Hospital Jakarta Selatan (MHJS), this time focused on robotic urologic surgery.

Two patients underwent procedures using the da Vinci Xi Robotic-Assisted Surgery System, including one radical prostatectomy for prostate cancer and one renal cyst procedure.

Dr. Syamsu Hudaya said robotic-assisted surgery provides enhanced 3D visualisation and greater instrument precision in confined anatomical areas.

It also supports minimally invasive access and is intended to reduce surgical trauma and blood loss whilst shortening recovery time.

Prof. Sanjai Kumar Addla said robotic surgery is now the global standard in urologic practice based on clinical outcomes, case strategy, and cost efficiency.

MHJS is also developing Tower 3, positioned as Indonesia's largest advanced cancer centre. Once complete, the hospital's total building area will reach 110,209 square metres.
