CKD's silent onset drives device demand in India, GlobalData says

The demand for nephrology and urology devices is rising in India, GlobalData said, amidst the growing need for kidney disease diagnosis and monitoring.

GlobalData reported the country accounted for around 10% of the Asia-Pacific market in 2025, driven by the elevated prevalence of renal and urinary disorders.

“Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is largely asymptomatic in its early stages, so many patients in India reach a nephrologist only after an irreversible loss of kidney function,” Nidhi Bharti, medical devices analyst at GlobalData, said.

She noted that the emergence of compact, internet-enabled diagnostic technologies could enable faster and multi-parameter assessment.

Investment in artificial intelligence-enabled and point-of-care diagnostic technologies is expected to gain momentum as healthcare providers seek early detection.
