Asia Pacific's mammography systems market is projected to reach $652.34m in 2027 from $357.56m in 2019 at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 8% amidst a rise in investments in breast cancer programs, according to a ReportLinker report.
"The widespread presence of breast cancer in the world has resulted in a huge demand for mammography systems for diagnostic purposes," the said. According to the Globocan report, China reported about 367,900 new cases of breast cancer and 97,972 deaths due to the disease in 2018.
As per the Globocanreport, in 2018 Japan experienced about 66,101 new breast cancer cases and 15,452 breast cancer deaths.
However, the shortage of health infrastructure in low-income countries could obstruct market growth to an extent. The report noted that healthcare systems in the region are witnessing drastic decline in breast examinations.
The market is also hampered by the pandemic and subsequent measures, as the implementation of social distancing strategies and fear of getting infected by corona virus has dealt a huge impact on breast examination.
"The outbreak of disease has severely affected the tourism industry, lead to supply chain disruptions and problems posed by the shortage of healthcare infrastructure in low-income countries," the report added.
