AI‑enabled medical imaging software set to outpace conventional systems
The market could grow up to $6.42b by 2031.
The global medical image analysis software market is projected to grow to $6.42b by 2031, driven by the rising need for artificial intelligence (AI)-assisted image detection across medical scans.
However, adoption amongst smaller hospitals and regional providers remains constrained by high validation costs, data privacy concerns, dependency on legacy systems and inconsistent reimbursement pathways.
By technology, the report noted that AI-enabled software is set to outpace conventional systems, posting the fastest segment growth.
A widening gap between imaging demand and radiologist supply is driving the shift. In the United States, imaging volume is rising roughly 5% annually whilst only 1,000 new radiologists enter the workforce each year.
By type, integrated software held the largest share at 64.5%, as imaging equipment makers embed AI directly into CT, MRI and X-ray systems.
On a regional basis, North America led the market with a 38.4% share driven by rising imaging volumes and an established FDA clearance pathway for AI-enabled devices.
