Advanced tech demand to drive China’s robotic surgery growth
It accounted for 30% of the Asia-Pacific market in 2025.
China’s robotic surgical systems market is projected to expand between 2026 and 2036, due to the growing demand for advanced surgical technologies and minimally invasive procedures.
According to a GlobalData report, the market will expand at a 12% compound annual growth rate between 2026 and 2036.
It noted that the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into robotic surgical systems further enhanced the capabilities and potential applications of these technologies.
In 2025, China accounted for around 30% of the Asia Pacific robotic surgical systems market.
“China’s robotic surgical systems market still has substantial headroom for expansion, particularly as the technology moves beyond a relatively concentrated base of leading hospitals,” Divya Soni, medical devices analyst at GlobalData, said.
However, she said that wider adoption will depend not only on upfront costs, but also on procedure volumes, recurring consumable costs, and hospitals’ ability to achieve sufficient utilisation to justify the investment.
“As competition intensifies, manufacturers will therefore need to demonstrate clear clinical and economic value rather than rely solely on technological differentiation,” she added.
